A joint letter signed by 9 European-based organisations representing all segments and sub-sectors of the flower & live plants sector in the EU has been sent on 10 April 2020 to the EU Commissioner for Agriculture. It urges the EU Commission to urgently activate extraordinary and temporary measures to support the sector survive this unprecedented crisis
The signatories to the letter are: UNION FLEURS (International Flower Trade Association), ENA (European Nurserystock Association), ARELFH (Assembly of European Horticultural Regions), VBN (Association of Dutch Flower auctions), VAL’HOR – French inter-branch organisation for ornamental horticulture (growers, nurseries, seeds companies, garden centres, wholesalers, florists, agro-shops, landscape contractors and landscape architects), ANTHOS (Royal Trade Association for Flower Bulbs), CIOPORA (International Association of Breeders of Asexually Reproduced Horticultural Varieties), FLEUROSELECT (International Association of breeders, producers and distributors of propagation material of ornamental plants) and ELCA (European Landscape Contractors Association)
ViewA Memo on the situation of the ornamental sector has been sent on 24 March 2020 to the EU Commissioner for Agriculture. It calls the EU Commission and all EU Agriculture Ministers for special attention and emergency support for the ornamental sector at large. Feedbacks from 11 European countries have been collected together with VBN (Association of Dutch Flower Auctions) and the Working party Flowers & Plants of COPA COGECA (association of EU farmers and cooperatives) and are annexed to the Memo.
